Default 4X shifter Question

Is it normal when shifting into 4HI and back to 2 Hi for the shifter to seem stiff or slightly hard to move?
Thanks.

The first few times it will seem that way. Once you get used to giving it a good pull/push on the lever, it will become easier.

It depends on the load on the drive train. If you are in gear and your speed is changing, either increasing or decreasing, then you have a load on the gears and that will make it more difficult to switch in and out of 4 wheel drive. I always push in my clutch when shifting in or out of 4 wheel drive and I have no stiffness issues. In my wife's Sahara, I slip the trans into N when switching in or out of 4 wheel drive.

Yeah its stiff, practice popping it in and out of 4wd with the tranny in neutral and with a slight roll speed, your hand will "learn" the best speed on the shift and it will become second nature....

Mine go from 2hi to 4hi and back like butter, never been difficult. It's to 4lo that most people have probs with, thats when you need neutral.

I always shift into N when changing drive modes. Never have any problems...unless I forget.

I've noticed mine is also "stiff" when going between any of the 4WD gears. Slightly rolling seems to help a little.

the Jks t-cases are built to shift at a slow rolling speed. its on the fly 4wd. i cant quote the manuel but u should be rolling 2-4mph and shifting so the teeth can engague properly. if you try n shift at a stand still with an auto atleast you are asking for trouble down the road.
