I didn't say BFH (won't say not to though) start lightly and increase.

I had to put my shifter into 4-hi to get the leverage on it I needed. But overall it wasn't too hard. Put a Cowboys pool ball in its place. Now I just need to paint my shaft

Anyone take the 2011 or 2012 transfer case shift knob off? I am guessing you pop the crome top off with a screw driver adb then find the c clip beneath. But I want ot hear it from someone else before I tear something up in my brand new rig. China shop meet Bull. My grandpa used to tell me "son, you could break an anvil in a sandbox". I have only done that one time though, well maybe twice if you count the second time.

Hey man easiest way takes 60 seconds. Worked for 2011. Put a towel over the knob, snug up a crescent wrench, and then whack it up with a hammer. It will pop right off.

Theres no clips or anything the knob just snugs on tightly.

For the 2011-2012 take a razor blade, flat head screwdriver, trim tool, etc and pop the chrome top off. I used a razor blade since it is thinner and you don't worry about gouging your tip or knob. Sit on the center console and pull up while twisting left to right at the same time. May take a couple of tugs but it will come right off. That is actually the way it is shown in the service manual minus sitting on the center console. No need for wrenches or hammers...

this is what I did... sub a channel lock for cresent and it worked. Took me about 15-20 hammer whacks. Good lord - what was Jeep thinking? They KNOW we customize.
