I don't have any issues with 4hi either. Last winter, with a blizzard, she handled on the hwy to DC with no issues....just a decreased mpg.
Ha ha 4-low nope I'm sure of that one, maybe I am just to sensitive to the driving difference. Don't get me wrong I could have used more of the gas peddle to get up to speed and it will just suck the gas but it felt like a huge power drain on the jeep. I guess I'll just use more long peddle and do less bitchen lol!

You definitely have something going on if the power loss is as much as described.
Same here. Not much difference noticed in 4 hi or 2wd.

I don't know, if you really feel a difference in 4-hi then there seems to be something wrong, I would try it again and if the issue persists then maybe have a buddy check it out or take it into the stealership and see if they can diagnose it...certainly seems that there is clearly something wrong if you feel resistance that much.

If you can do 50, there's probably no reason to be in 4X4. If there is, you probably shouldn't be doing 50.

This winter I'll pull out a few cars and a whole bunch of 4X4's.

It def feels sluggish. I have a 2dr manual and when I put her into 4wd I can def tell. I would imagine you wouldn't notice near as much with an auto.

Um yeah... if you need to use 4x4, dont go 50.... 4x4 helps ya go, but ice precludes stopping.

Anyhow, If the power loss is that bad, more than likely an issue with front axle. The previous owner didnt do a partial re-gear did they? I cant imagine that different ratios between front and rear would even move, but if it did that might cause major sluggishness.

Never noticed it with manual transmissions, either.

Here in So Cal we don't get ice on the road except up in the mountains. Right after and during a snowfall it's usually 4 WD with chains. My Wife and I head up. The roads are all snow covered some payches of ice and no idiots on the road either. It's 4 high all the way but slow and very peaceful. I sort of wished I lived in a place that got regular snow.
In the places that get regular snow you still have the idiots on the road.

To the OP, when I put it in 4 Hi I can feel more resistance with my manual transmission. It might be because I have the original P225/75R16 tires so I am not getting a lot of resistance from them.

I'll add my $.02 worth to this thread.

We just had a few days of snow and several days of compact ice. Mine in 4-hi ran great, no loss of power that I could tell. I've ran mine at 50+ on compact snow in 4-hi as well...ran like a top even at those speeds.

And now on to the next point. The guy asked for help with a problem, I really don't think he needed a lecture on how to drive. If he felt like doing 50 in 4-hi, that's his issue...get off your high horse and help the guy out.

Last year I pulled way off the side of the road into the snow and had to put it in 4wd to get out. I got onto the hiway, forgot about it (with my sunglasses I couln't see the 4wd light) and cruised about 5 miles before my son noticed the light on. could not tell it was on in a straght line.
