Default AC vs AD shocks

Someone school me on JK stock shock differences. 186AC vs 186AD for fronts and 188AC vs 188AD? I am pretty sure that the AC's came from Rubi and AD's came from Hard Rock. Both are red and unfortunately can't put them side by side for height measurement. Any info/insight would be welcome.

The suffix just denotes a parts change- could be a manufacturer change or a minor revision within the part. The latest revision doesn't always mean "best" part because they do/ can bounce back to a previous manufacturer.
