air condition not working
I have a hard-top unlimited. A couple weeks ago when it was 95 degrees out, the air conditioning was not effective in cooling the cab. It wasn't bad for me when the air was blowing directly on me, but the backseat for my daugther was warmer than comfortable.
However, she's too young to talk, so she can't complain about it.

I have noticed this week with the warmer weather that my AC really does not give out much cold air I will be taking it in for an oil change and get them to check out the AC. I dont think I could stand a hot summer with no reliable AC sure I could take the freedom top off etc but the ac in my 99 TJ cooled more than the JK.
Same here. I don't mean to add on the 'wine and cheese' thing. But this past humid Memorial weekend, I finally turned on my AC and noticed that it didn't blow as cold as my TJ. But I don't really care cuz I don't usually have the AC on, only when the wifey and daughter is in the Jeep.
The first problem was when the A/C clutch engages sometimes it makes a horrible sound (as if something was coming a part underneath the hood). It usually happens when I first start the engine and then engage the a/c. The SM was out when I initially brought it in last week. His shop replaced the whole compressor.
I had a scare Saturday morning, where the A/C seemed unusually warm, but it was because I had accidentally hit the AC button (meaning to turn it on) and it was already on, so I actually had shut if off... which I'm sure is different from the issue you folks are having.
My AC is COLD once I have decent airflow (driving >20 MPH), and during Memorial Day weekend, I had to shut it off/down because it would get TOO cold... so I would say that your collective "poor AC" performance is either not the norm, or IS the norm, and I got an exceptional model (the latter scenario being unlikely IMO).

The AC in my brand new Unlimited Sahara 4dr is not nearly as good as it was in my 2005 Unlimited. Not enough cold air even on recirc and high fan speed for the heat in Baltimore. The 2005 could generate some icy air!!

I am still having issues with the A/C. As stated earlier this is a little "wine and cheese". It is very irritating to spend that much on a vehicle and the A/C is not equipped to handle 85-90 degree weather.
I notice that the hardtop is putting out quite abit of heat. I don't remember my 04 Rubicon doing that. I may put on the soft top and see if it has the same results. Has anyone notice a difference with the hard top vs. soft top regarding the a/c ability to cool the cabin down?

Perhaps I am the exception. I ran the a/c here when it was 103 and had to turn the a/c down because I was getting cold. I noticed it was just as cold in standstill traffic as it was on the highway (with softop).
Good luck to you guys with problems. It should be ice cold air coming out of those vents.
