that cool and all... but instead of a "Hot oil" message indicator, I would prefer a new transmission that WILL NOT OVERHEAT RANDOMLY

..thats like putting a band aid on a gunshot wound... it will help a bit, but the problem still exists

edit to add --> plus, if these transmission were running hotter on average than other newer model transmissions then we could also speculate increased wear due to the higher temps.

There's really nothing wrong with the transmissions. All it would take would be for them to install a better transmission cooler......but times that by over 161, 000 and they would lose their ass.

Yup. But we sure can't depend on that.

Agreed. There's only about 50 things they could have done better the first time around on the JK's!

An additional cooler would be better, but there are ways of managing the auto transmission to prevent overheating while wheeling.

That is completley worthless, so if car company X has truck in production that the front wheel falls off causing the vechile to crash, all car company X has to do to satisfy the gubment is to put in a little light that comes on 5 seconds before the wheel falls off. That is TOTAL BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not touching my 09 unlimited, If my tranny blows up I'll put stock wheels back on it and shove it up their A$$. God help them if it catches on fire, I'll find the shadiest laywer I can find, there's enough proof out there to prove that they new about it.

Not exactly. Car company X would HAVE to recall and FIX all the trucks effected by the recall because it's a SAFETY issue. That what the law says. The transmission getting hot does not qualify as such.

Thats what I was getting at. To satisfy the government all they have to do in the recall is to reflash your pcm so it tells you right before it explodes in a ball of flame. It doesn't matter to the government that they sold us a product that may catch fire and possibly kill you or a family member as long you were warned right beforte it caught fire. I think they should make Chrysler recall all auto's and add a secondary tranny cooler. I love my Jeep so don't take this wrong BUT they are cash cow's for chrysler and for your money you get alot less than with other vechiles in the same price range. I bought my wife an 08 Pontiac Torrent which is the sister of the Chevy Equinox, the Torrent has way better fit and finish, way more features for less than I paid for my unlimited. Minus the fun factor the Jeep has the Torrent is a far better engineered and constructed vechile. I think for all the money they make off of us jeepers they could do the right thing and take care of a serious problem that they are well aware of.
