You would think with the "life time" power train warranty, Crappler would look at this closer. I wonder if people with larger tires will get their warranties voided at some point if Crappler decides that is the cause of a tranny failure . . .

Someone mentioned a mod to their Dodge truck, adding a manual switch to lock up the torque converter. Too bad this isn't an option for us. Or is it...

*************** Talkin Ram Truck Diesel Again**********
That would be me..
Of couse I didnt invet the mod, but it was very easy.

Heres my switch:

Basically tapped into the harness , find the correct wire and put a switch in to ground it.

The only other thing was to put in a resistor in line to keep the signal from reaching the computer and throwing the MIL.

If someone has the wiring diagram for the Jeep trans lock up, we could compare it to the Dodge's.

Would anyone be interested in a direct bolt in replacement for the trans cooler/air cond that would cool better?? I asked Griffin radiator and they would make them, I would have to buy and send them a cooler. I'd rather not cut into the lines or fab a mount and block part of the air cond. They already make a radiator that has 25% more cooling capacity.

oh almost forgot, I have the hpyertech and my jeep was running hot before I used the programmer, so I finally did the programmer and put the temp setting on 180, it didnt help the engine run cooler at all. It didnt help that my rad was pretty muddy even though I had washed it 4times, but I wouldnt count on it to help the trans run cooler.

Granted, only 9300 miles at a year old with stock tires...

Trans fluid is bright red, no wear noticed yet.

That's an interesting approach, but the AC system would have to be evacuated, suctioned and recharged. That somewhat defeats the direct bolt in replacement idea.

Does anyone know if the "tow package" JKs have additional cooling provisions?

With the exception of wiring harness, hitch and optional 4.1 gears as far as 2007s go.

Yes tow package does NOT change the cooling at all which is pretty dumb.
