That is true but to me its better then splicing into the lines and as I have seen on some jeeps tie wrapping it to the front of the jeep. Maybe could get them to make it so that you take the lines off existing one and bolt them to new one with a new mounting bracket, but it would be tuff to not block the ac cond that way I believe. Can you just release the ac or does it have to be suctioned by law? I thought with the new 134 its safe to release?

so, my wife has been driving the unlimited for the past few days & watching the temp gauge. Today she called and said it reached 221*! So.....I installed the B&M cooler (70268) tonight instead of this weekend (the sahara will be this weekend). Pretty easy job. I took some "after" pics with my cell...I'll post them later. Took it for a quick drive to warm it up & ck fluids & it took a while to hit 150*, so I am looking forward to see what the temp does over the next few days. I'll keep you posted.

so.....

If I did install an aftermarket additional cooler....

Would it give the big C another reason to cop out of my warrenty if something happened to the tranny?

Just thinking here--- Id rather have the tranny fail, and get it replaced with the lifetime rather than pay out of pocket because I tried to help it.

now the issue with the fire... well that makes me think again....

I wouldnt think that it would void the warranty unless they can prove that the cooler caused the tranny (or other component) to fail - which is highly unlikely. Since I have a wife and 2 kids who drive the Jeep around, I want to try and cover my bases as far as these fires are concerned. I dont know that my wife can move quick enough to get both of our kids out of the Jeep if a fire were to start (she's handicapped and our kids cannot unbuckle themselves yet). This, to me, is far more important than worrying about voiding the warranty (which, as stated before is highly unlikely in the first place).

So, after the normal driving around today (same conditions producing over 200*), the temp got up to only 165*!

HUGE difference!

Glad to hear it. Thanks for taking the time to share this. I think it's been a big help.

Which cooler did you get?

Would love to hear back on this in a week or two to see if the temps are stable at 165. I'm planning on towing 2500 lbs with my JK and can't imagine what the temps would be if I didn't plan add a cooler before leaving....

I used a B&M Supercooler model 70268. You can get it from summit racing for $50. I'm doing a very detailed writeup as I am installing the same setup on my sahara.
