battery for 2011 jk
So i went to start my 2011 Jk 4 door this morning and it was completely dead. I have 10,000 miles on it ??? weird right. So I had it towed to the dealer and they put a new battery in it no charge which was great. It looks like they put a cheap Mopar battery in it .todays question is what battery should I use that is better ???? I have a electric fridge that I use so that would be a consideration of which battery to choose.
Thanks for the help in advance |
A lot of people are running the diehard platinum batteries. It's one of the best out there. I am running an optima blue top deep cycle in my 2012. Very happy... We will see how long it lasts. If you are running a fridge that drains your battery while the vehicle isn't running, a deep cycle is is a great choice.

You will need a hybrid battery, that is to say a combination starting/deep cycle. many choices and prices. starting from the top(ish) is the sears die hard Platnium at about 225. It is a rebadged oddesey around 275. the yellow top is or was popular at 200,but some quality issues have been reported.
personally i put in a Duralast Platnium at 145 this morning after killing the stocker with a winch, it's a rebaged DEKA Dominator at 165. I should mention that all of these batteries that I have mentioned except for the yellow top are made by Johnson Controls. |

Googling Johnson Controls, I could find no connection between it and Odyssey (Enersys), who makes the Sears DieHard Platinum. Googling Odyssey, Enersys, Duralast, and Deka, I could find no connection to Johnson Controls. Further searching reveals Johnson Controls is connected to Optima Batteries, including the Yellow Top. |

Optima Blue Top for the deep cycle. We use them on our USCG small boats which run 4BT Cummins engines. Even in the Bering Sea they hold up. The Yellow Top is a good choice as well. Spendy, but with batteries you get what you pay for.

my mistake, I've done so much looking at batteries in the last few days that I'm afraid that I have confused myself.

FOUND ON A WEB SEARCH "WHO MAKES DURA LAST BATTERIES?"
Tim from Michigan Hey Kip, Could you tell me who makes duralast from Autozone. I recently bought a set of Duralast batteries there for my diesel truck. I have had great results with Duralast batteries in the past, and was just curious as who makes these batteries? Bestbatterytips.com Tim, we’ve had to make this a 6 part Q & A under our Mailbag Mondays questions. We’ll make this one part 2 on Duralast batteries. Duralast batteries are a line of batteries sold by Autozone, which by the way is on every street corner it seems anymore. Autozone is one of the biggest auto parts store chains in the country, known for their great customer service and exceptional products. They can thank Johnson Controls for their dependable Duralast batteries. Duralast is Autozone’s private label made by Johnson Controls. Autozone offers a diverse selection of Duralast batteries, ranging from small to large. They even offer the Optima Gel Batteries in Auto and Marine, by the way which Johnson Controls also owns. Below is a look at Autozone’s Duralast Battery Line, and the Optima Battery line they carry as well. Globe-Union was a Wisconsin based manufacture of Automotive batteries for both the replacement and OEM markets. Today, Johnson Controls is the largest producer of private label lead acid batteries in North America, and is becoming a leader in Asia and South America. In 2000 Johnson Controls acquired Gylling Optima Batteries AB of Sweden. The Optima Gel Battery is well known for its quality and longevity. Johnson Controls completed the acquisition of German automotive battery maker HOPPECKE Automotive GmbH & Co. The company has a excellent customer base that includes many of Europe’s leading auto manufacturers. Johnson Controls also produce batteries for other applications such as marine, lawn and garden, commercial, motorcycle, wheelchair, and golf cart use. Most consumers have no idea of the size of the battery giant. When people think of Johnson Controls, they think of thermostats for HVAC purposes not batteries. Johnson Controls is not only the largest North American battery manufacture, but they literally control the North American battery market. Johnson Controls manufactures batteries for the following private labels: Interstate Battery Die Hard Battery Duralast Battery Kirkland Battery Everstart Battery Prostart Battery Johnson controls also makes some or all of these batteries as well. I just want to mention that just because JC makes all those batteries doesn't mean that they all all good batteries some are and some aren't. I know jeepers arent big consumer reports fans but last I looked interstate was at the bottom of their list. Duralast did well.

Very true, just like Almond Joy and Mounds, both made by HERSHEY'S, but every one knows the Almond Joy is way better...:yup:
