Exclamation BEWARE of the SPS........I mean it !!!!

"S"cratch "P"lastic "S"yndrome

For all of you that has experience this, I think I have topped it off.

Coupe of months ago my dealership intalled hardtop wiring and my dash had a couple of scrathes that seemed easy to replace due to their tools or something.

So I went back and they had to order a whole new airbag system.

After a week of working the kinks and having it at the dealer, the plastic scratched up again and including the center console now.

Now the dealer said they will fix it all up after they order some more parts, Again....

Now it may be a training session for them, but this plastic on my built "really" scratches pretty easy. I knew about this and made sure not to put anything on it, but even the smallest things like a simple install could turn into a long challenge.

Yes I could get use to it, but it only has 6k miles and the scratches did not from my end.

Once this gets repaired I am hoping someone can post a new trim kit or better yet a dash cover that looks okay.

The dealership are really "trying" to make it work at all cost, but the Jeep HQ should really do something about this. If anyone has an address to write to about this it would be nice. Either though it has been corrected, there's a ton of loyal folks who are left out there.

If you have anyone installs anything outside the Dealership, I WOULD THINK twice if you have one of the earlier JKs. Maybe someone could post who may have this particular plastic. I can't wait till it's all "said and done....."

As a second note, this is the Best Toy I've ever owned .......

Default I'm scratchy too

No doubt this is a real problem. Even the area around the ignition key is scratched on mine. I usually travel in the desert with my AR-15 stuffed between the console and the passenger seat. I've done this for years with my other Jeeps. Not a good idea on the JK if you want to keep it pretty on the inside. I don't see any hope of preventing the scratching and scuffing, so I'll just forget about it and focus on fun.

As far as an address that may actually help? you may wanna try santaclaus@thenorthpole.com he will likely have a more open ear than DC has.

You can contact DC directly by going here: http://www-5.jeep.com/wccsapp/univer...ull&category=U

But i seriously doubt you will get much of a response over the canned bucket of.... the rest of us have recieved.

Good luck!, I am glad your dealership is helping. It is one of the few i have heard of that actually are. DC turned a deaf ear to it.

You just brought me back to real life. I also have carried rifles in the same place. I guess I'm going to have to forget about the pretty and new, and just have fun. Thank you for the wake up call.

Default Reality......

Good point, at least DC took care of the problem. The fun time is here and I actually got the first Tan from my JK. There's the upside, a tanning booth built right in when the top is down. Like I mention, if any suggestions for plastic repair or dash cover, that would be cool. THX

Im still amazed to hear about the plasctic. I was all worried after reading the forums but i got my rubi which was built in march and the plastic is great.

I really wonder what DC did with the plastic. I would love to see someone post a close up pic so I can see the texture of the scratchy plastic because im convinced mine is different.

Ditto. My dogs are actively trying to scratch my plastic and failing.
