Brakes Bind When Temp Goes Up. UGH.

My 12 JKU pulls hard right when temperature is hot. Today it's 100. The right front caliper is sticking. It gets extremely hot as a result. I have recently replaced both front calipers all sets of pads and bled the system thoroughly. That didn't work... Any ideas?

Thanks!

kinda pricey, but these rotors would more then likely take care of your problem.

You say the caliper is sticking. Ideas.....replace it?? :dontknow2: there have been reports of those calipers sticking so it's not unusual but the answer is obvious.

Adding the rotors suggested above is not the correct answer.

I did replace the calipers as I stated. That's why I replaced them to cure the problem. Which still exists with new calipers. (and yes you're correct, the rotors won't cause that)

Derp, I missed the caliper part in the original post and just saw pads/ rotors.

Did you put fresh fluid in the entire system as well? And is it a new or reman caliper? As I mentioned, the caliper issue isn't "new" for these jeeps but I've not experienced it. My friends who have not changed the fluid have seen the issue so it's an avenue to pursue.

There was someone else on here recently that had caliper(s) sticking. His mechanic kept replacing with the same re-manufactured brand and the problem repeated. If I remember right, several of us advised going with new calipers. Perhaps search and see if the member posted how it worked out.

Side note: It's especially helpful when posters follow up and let everyone know the "rest of the story". Many do follow up, but there's a lot of stories in forums without endings.

This is a stretch. When you changed the calipers did you lube your pins?

cor72vette 07-20-2017 04:22 PM

New Valvoline synthetic fluid throughout. Pins were prelubed as I bought the calipers w brackets not just the calipers.

Installed a new caliper this morning... That's the stock unit, a replacement 3 months ago and another today.....

DOT 3 and 4 are ok, DOT 5 (synthetic) should not be used in our system.

These are new calipers, what particular brand are they? I'd be curious if it's isolated to a brand or a particular run of calipers.
