Default Canadian JK horn beep door lock WTF

Alright, I know there are some threads on this already, and they all say the same thing. I have also read my manual, and in the manual it says the same thing. To disable the horn beep upon door lock, hold the lock button for 4-10 seconds, then press the panic button (while still holding the lock button) and release both. I have tried this on the key fob and inside the vehicle holding the lock on the door, I have tried it with the key in and out of the ignition. why would they put it in the manual if it doesnt even work? I hate the sound of the horn and I hate the fact that I have to make it beep to lock the doors with the key fob. I have stopped using that feature becuase it pisses me off so much. I don't know if it being a Canadian jeep has any relavence, but man... if anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong, I would love to hear it, I am going to wind up having a mental breakdown becuase of this stupid sounding horn ...

Okay, I'm not that upset... little bit though

I don`t mind it so much.I like it due to the fact sometimes I am in a parking lot and pretty far away or can`t see the jeep due to other cars in the way before I remember to lock the doors, I have 3 yougsters so locking my doors on exit is sometimes the least of my worries.

The "beep" lets me know I wasn`t too far away to lock them and I don`t walk into a store leaving my jeep unlocked for someone an easier chance to steal something...if they plan on that atleast they will have to work for it and a good chance on getting caught.

It is annoying however when I get home late and hit the button and it blares the horn and wakes up my wife though

I don't know why I dislike it so much, but from the first time I locked my jeep, I knew I hated it. I don't think I need to alert everyone when I lock my jeep... like "HEY EVERYONE, I'M HERE NOW! LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT MY JEEP! ITS LOCKED NOW OKAY!?" haha I dunno, maybe I am weird. If the horn didn't sound like a clown car horn it might be a different story.... actually it sounds like those old school bike horns that you squeeze.

Hey man you have the same problem as me, kind of... I've been trying to ENABLE the horn when I lock/unlock the doors and it will not work no matter how many times I try. The weirdest part about it is that it will actually honk once in a blue moon when I lock or unlock the doors but then it wont do it again for months.

Haha nope. Thinking back though, I have seldom used my horns in any of my vehicles. I guess loud noises scare me

early model builds of the o7 had to be done via the obdII scanner
take it to the dealer and have it disabled
I like it, if i dont want to do it that ya i hit the lock button on exit

i had the same problem with my jk 08.
i needed to go to the dealer who desactived horn with obd2 scan.
he wanted that i pay for it ...
i just told him to disable it with obd2 scan or do what it needed that my key works as writing in manual.
dealer choose to use obd2 scan....
