Change the stock tires of a 2008 sahara
 

My new sahara unlimited was delivered in april with the bridgestone dueller 255/70/18 tires on it. I would like to change the tire for another one with a more off road profile.
Here in Belgium the dealer can not find a tire that would fit . I personally would like to have the goodyear silent armor tires but they tell me that this tire does not exist for the 18 wheels. Is this correct and if so is there another good off road / road tire that could fit on this 18 wheels ??

There just are not a lot of options for the oversized 18" wheels. You will find it cheaper to buy a new set of 16" wheels and tires than to buy tires for 18" wheels.

At this point it looks like the tires you have are the most aggressive for off-road available.

With 16" wheels, there are lots of choices for you. . .

This was one of the reasons I strayed away from the Sahara. I'm a huge fan of the stock rims.

Yucca is right, it would be cheaper to get a 16" wheel. Another option is to look for a stock rubi wheel and tire set. If you like the BFGs you could probably find a set someone swopped for bigger tires and new set of wheels.

It's a good thing that they put the BFG MT's on my Rubicon wheels or I would have immediately dumped those 17's. Now I will wait until I need tires to get rid of those wheels and switch to 16's

Yeah Im having fum finding a decent set for the 18 here in the U.S. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr What was Chrysler thinking..... the horror the horror.. 15's wont clear the calipers 20 look ridiculous I say 20 for the WWII NDTS tires I would like to stick on my Jeep. but they all look to ghetto to stick on my Jeep so that blew that Idea away unless I can find a decent steely thats solid which is wishfull thinking lol.... Well, for me it hasn't been a problem finding 18" tires ProComp Xtreme M/T have a couple of sizes for the 18" wheel and there is also the Toyo Open Country M/T. However, the 18" tires are at least $100 more per tire then the exact same size in a 16" wheel. At this point it is just cheaper to buy new 16" tire and rim combo.

These are what I was going to reccomend. I wanted to get these but I just got a great deal on a set of Rubi wheels & tires.:ya:

Also, Mickey Thompson makes several in the 18" that look good. Go to Discoutn Tire Direct and put in the make & model and they'll tell you what's available, at least here in teh states. Might be a little tougher over in Europe, not sure though.

look at 275/65-18 ---- still only 32.1" around and a little wider. Many more options.
