This is not 100% correct, and actually could be 100% wrong! Just becaause it says it can be used with an LSD does not mean it has any modifier in it. I actually haven't seen any that have it in it, but I haven't looked that hard. If you have a question, call the people that make it.

I went to the stealership about a month ago to have my tires rotated, would've done it myself but it had rained every day for a week here and I have no garage or shelter of any kind. When I got there the service advisor starts running off the list of things that absolutely "NEED" to be done, Brake inspection $75, Battery Service $59.95, Oil change $50 (sh!tty mopar filter and dino juice). I told him the battery is maintenance free and I had cleaned up the terminals/connections recently, the brakes only have 24000 km's on them and they are absolutely fine. When I told him I change my own oil he says "you will void your warranty doing it yourself" all I could do was laugh at him. There arent too many dealers who arent crooks thats for sure.

Most of the Synthetics actually do have a certain percentage of friction modifier in them, I wont say all of them but MOST do. But yes call the manufacturer to confirm, thats the only way you will know for sure.

That could be just a general statement. You need to be careful. IF the oil is formulated FOR LSDs, there will be something a bit more specific than that.

Yeah check out post #7, I called Valvoline and they confirmed it has the additive already in it.

Hey-don't forget to make sure the filler plug comes out before you drain!

It wasn't an issue on my JK, but old, rusty vehicles don't always like to let go of their fill plugs-which could leave you with an empty diff for a while.

Let us know how you like the oil!

Great! Some of them do, but then some have a very general statement and they do not have it. You did your homework. Good job.

Gotta do the homework! I don't feel like forking out the coin for new gears, tranny, T-Case etc for using something I shouldnt have so I might as well do it right the first time. I bought some Mobil Super ATF+4 for the T-case, its not synthetic and says nothing on the bottle about T-Case's however the product sheet from Mobil's website states "Mobil Super ATF+4® can be used in other services that specify an MS-7176E® type fluid, including certain manual transmissions, transfer cases and power steering units". Jeep manual just says Mopar ATF+4 or equivalent, I should be good to go?

Default I love it, how about Mobil 1?

I love this thread. Something so simple, is so confusing. I have the Sahara Unlimited D44 LSD rear with 4:10 (which was available as the tow package in 07).
I'm about to change the diff fluid, and wanted to use Mobil 1. So, before I call them, has anyone used Mobil one on the D44 LSD, and did you need to add Friction Modifier? Or, has anyone called them?

Thanks!
