Default Clutch - Replacement

OK OK. My clutch is going out... Well not my clutch, but my pilot or throw out bearing is going out. I got into some reallly deep water. It was starting to come over my hood, I had to stop and go into reverse so i pressed the clutch in while my tranny was under water...

question: Does anyone know of a good clutch?

Ive been to auto parts stores and no one carries a clutch. besides dealer (600). I only find center force dual clutch. anyone know of other sites/shops that sell a god clutch for the JK. 2007.

im looking to replace the clutch, pilot and throw out bearing

I just had mine at the stealer for the TSB on the transmission popping out of gear. They ended up taking out the tranny twice. The first time they did the synchros on first only, and the second time it was second, third, and the throwout bearing. It was making a sound in third, which was why it came out the second time.

It was at almost 100,000 Kms which was the end of the warranty (999,971!).

They offered to check the clutch while the tranny was out for two reasons: 1) it was recommended at 100K and 2) they would not charge the labor for removal, they put it on the TSB. They charged me 1hr for the clutch.

So getting to the point, I would shop around. Here in Canada, they charged me as below:

53008342 Bearing $112
52104732AC Clutch Kit $363

They also charged $50 to resurface the flywheel.

Because it was already in, I didn't search around, but it seems cheaper.

I also got an additional 5% off because we have CAA. You might want to ask if you get an AAA discount!

There also seems to be a TSB on the clutch and this is a revised part number.

Try some searches on the forum on the clutch or the clutch p/n.

Definitely much smoother now and much less truck like.

Good luck!

Would bad synchros make it hard to get into gear? Second gear is tricky on mine. Sometimes it's just when it's cold, other times it just catches a little.

Don't want to hijack the OP's thread but I would say yes. The TSB info is in the one of the sticky threads I think. If you want the number, PM me...

All my gears work better, even reverse. Even the wife noticed!

doesnt matter. you can HI jack my thread. idc. just keep it tranny related. ive kinda noticed that my gears somewhat have to be pushed in to go into gear... maybe its related to my pilot bearing yelling. not to sure.

I doubt that the hard gear engagement is due to the through out bearing it's more to do with the sync-rose, just a question does the squeaking stop when you press the clutch in?

For me it is hard to say, they were all done at the same time!

Definitively shifts better...
