Code P0420/430
2008 Jeep Wrangler 175,000 miles just threw the code about 10 days ago. Cleared code. week later came back. Question is should I replace the oxygen sensors or just get new cats put on. I did have a misfire November of 2017 which had the 1 and 2 fuel injectors replaced. And for clarification that code signifies driver side oxygen sensors??

I have a 2007 JK with 91,000+ miles. I replace all 4 oxygen sensors and the code still comes back. I have the same code which is the drivers' side. I plan on replace my driver's side exhaust manifold, first, this summer (already purchase). Some people have had success doing the manifold replacement because of crack issue. I have two broken bolts, so I'm hoping this might be my issue. If this doesn't work, I guess I will replace the catalytic converters. I tried different additives, i.e. catalytic cleaners, but it only helped for a little while, before the code raised it's ugly head again! I found several sources on eBay for catalytic replacements which are reasonable cost wise, $235-254 range.

I replaced all four sensors when I had that code--perhaps about 225,000 miles. Did not clear code for good. Replaced cats, code gone. At 175,000 miles, I'd say just replace all of it and be done with it.

Thanks for the input. I am going to wait till the code keeps coming up more frequently. Save some money till then.
