Just had a weird noise at start up but went away in seconds.

My Jeep makes noises when its cold too, I make noises as well.

 

Sorry just wanted to know if others have this issue or is it normal etc.

 

they all do that until the oil pressure comes up...

 

Good to hear, don't need to waste time at my dealer i had enough of that with my water pump issue.

 

Was it a whistling sound only when cold?

 

I had that before, right after i replaced the water pump , now it was like a mild grinding sound or rattling sound.

 

It's a 3.8, right? Is the sound only on the first start of a very cold engine?

Used to read a lot about oil filters with bad anti-drain back valves. That can make an unpleasant start up sound.

Turn the key to on but don't start yet. Let the start-up systems-check lights cycle through. When that's all done, start the engine and watch very closely for the red oil pressure warning light (red oil can light). If the filter is draining you might see that light flash for just a brief moment.

Good news is you can change the filter without doing a whole oil change.

Another screech can be the PS pump when it's very cold, too.

 

My 2013 rattles like crazy for a couple seconds on cold start ups

 

Jiblet...Well mine is a 2013 , i did the on button before turn on the engine but the red oil can did not come on. So this mean i have a good filter?
