I want to take a look at replacing the stock plastic bushings on the transfer case and was wondering if someone can tell me how to take the console out on a 2010 6 speed 2 door. I havent looked real close yet, but have found that the shift knobs can be tough from what I read. I want to get my ducks in a row before attempting to remove it so I know what Im in for. No problem...that whole cable replacement is a pain. I thought about it but when I found out I could get the plastic bushings for 60cents from the stealership, I bought a dozen and keep em in the glove box. It takes about 5 min to repair underneath the jeep with a 6"pair of channel locks...just something to think aboutt instead of all the trouble.

 

Thanks for the info. Im gonna look at it soon, havent had a problem yet but dont want to either. Im a machinist so im looking to make bronze bushings to replace the plastic and using stainless steel "E" clips to retain the bushings. Well see what happens lol

 

Let me know how it turns out you might convince me to making the change lol
