Could a dealer deny engine warranty for an exhaust?
. . . and rightly so. Not all of us have 10-20 dealerships all within a 30 minute commute to flop back and forth between when they deny warranty work. Like myself, I have two dealerships to chose from. One is 40 minutes away and one is an hour away with the next closest one being a nearly two hour drive.
I have tried the Magnuson and Moss act threat before, it does not work. The pocket lawyers already have their "proof" lined up and it is entirely up to the consumer to pay to refute their "proof". Which is cheaper, fix the repair yourself or pay the hefty legal fees to refute the Automaker's claims? Most of the time it is cheaper to pay for the repair and have less headache.
I do not make enough money to have an attorney fight every little repair that the dealership denies and that has been plentiful in my time and my parents time of owning vehicles. Some of you luck out with lenient dealerships but if it weren't for bad luck I would have no luck at all.

Your dealership is a bunch of jackasses. Our Jeep store didn't GAF what you'd done to your Jeep as long as they could get it covered by Chrysler. They Chrysler guys were pretty cool, for the most part they'd take the service writer/manager's word for it.
As long as you don't act like a jack ass and it isn't blatantly obvious that you've been abusing your Jeep (like had it towed in buried in mud up to the doors and have a tow strap holding the axle in place) there usually wasn't a problem.
That used to happen all the time with the D35 TJs with over-sized tires.

I could give 2 chits less but many people believe the Magnusson Moss propaganda manufacturers try to throw at them then end up burned.
I had a 115hp box on my 6 liter PSD back when that was one of the original boxes for that first year model and until they came out with a 160hp box.
Some guys were blowing motors from other boxes with too much geeked up timing and while some got a wink wink warrantied motor other got burned and ford started to catch on and sent reps out to the dealers to look for carbon signs on the pistons showing advanced timing signaling a go fast box.
This led to a majority of forum members who just couldn't imagine risking these motors when MagMoss was proven not to apply and go fast box manufacturers who sold you on MagMoss wouldn't stand up for you when chit hit the fan.
Like I said back then I could careless because if I can't get the brother in law warranty deal from one of the Ford mechanics I knew, I had the money to buy a new $10K motor. 65,000 miles later I never blew anything up.
I just want to very clear how some dealers view add-on parts whether performance or aesthetic. By reading these threads its apparent many guys save up then spend every penny they have on mods which doesn't leave anything left over for a big warranty claim f'u from a dealer.
You either can afford to warranty your vehicle yourself or you can't so proceed with caution.

That right there is something i've wanted to say to alot of people who complain about denied warranty claims but have 4 inch lifts, 37's, massive bumpers etc on their rigs (nothing against 37's or lift's or any mod whatsoever!). Do I have the cash to buy a whole new motor? tranny? Axles? T-Case? Yup, its not an issue. Do I want to spend my money on something that should be covered under warranty? Nope! I completely understand everyone's want to mod their Jeep, I wanna mod the hell out of mine but all i've done is add a freakin exhaust and thats as far as i'm going with it until my warranty is gone then i'll make the mods. I paid enough for the damn thing as is and I sure dont want to be replacing a crap load of stuff out of my own pocket while it should still be covered under warranty.
