Default Crack / Hole in Engine above Oil Pan

I was out this weekend in Azusa Canyon, not running it too hard, and all the sudden the engine died. I went to restart and all I heard with the sound of the starter spinning. I looked under my jeep and saw a puddle of engine oil. As you can see there is a crack and a hole in the manifold between the Block and the Oil Pan. This is on the Passenger Side rear of engine just in front of the Bell Housing. There are no signs of external contact, the explosion came from within. Has anyone ever seen this before? Does anyone know what happened here? I am at 70K, and I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow with my fingers crossed. Any words of advice?

Of course I have "100,000k Chrysler Powertrain Warranty" and I purchased the "Platinum Service Contract" that is supposed to cover everything the standard warranty doesn’t......this will be a good test.

Good luck and make sure to document EVERYTHING.. that means every phone call, who you talked to, and at what time. Along with all service records. Again, Good Luck

Man that is scary stuff. I'd hate to be way out on a trail rock crawling and have that happen. Good luck with the dealership. At least you have the warranty. I bought my jeep second hand, hence I'd be paying out of pocket if something like that happened to me
