I heard that is you put some irish spring soap (in the box) in your engine compartment (under tipm) the rats stay away - they hate that stuff... Try it out

Mothballs are commonly used to keep the rodents out, not so sure about the Irish Spring soap.

You could try a Prestone cocktail. Set out a can of tuna fish soak in antifreeze they go home and die. Which could be a smelly affair if they’ve made nests in your Jeep. Obviously precautions need to be taken to not attract the neighbors pet dogs or cats. A buddy of mine who lived outside the city swore by it when he had massive raccoon problems.
