Default Dented front bumper

Ok, I am an idiot. While rushing to the train station this a.m. I bumped the car parked next to me. The Acura has litterly no damage, me I have a dented front corner bumper! I have searched and have heard of people fixing the bumper with a heat gun or blow dryer. I have one question, how do you do it? I am not very skilled with tools but it is bothering me to know I have an idiot mark on my jeep and it's all my fault. Anybody please help!!!! Thanks

They are stock, thanks for the offer. I live on Long Island. I was just hoping for quick fix. It's not that bad but every time I look at the Jeep it just pisses me off. Once again thanks!

B4 I had the money for my ARB, my lovely wife hit a tree the 1st time I let her drive it on a trail. You need to remove the four bolts that mount it to the frame and if you have tow hooks, slide it up and over them to pull of the plastic bumper. As I recall, there are a couple of openings in the back side of the plastic portion of the bumper. Heat up the dented area with a hair dryer or other type of heat gun. If you find a long enough piece metal- like a ratchet extension or something similar-stick it into the opening on rear of the bumper and you should be able to reach the dent from the inside to push it out.

If not able to reach it from the inside I've heard of guys heating it up enough- the dent will pop out on it's own.

Good luck- the bumper is kinda a pain to remove and re-install- just have some patience.

Great advise! One thing I don't have is patience. If it wasn't for the fact it's dark out I would be fiddling around now with it! I guess I have to get over it! LOL I have been looking at some aftermarket front bumpers, and I just can't spare the $$$ to justifying fixing something like this. I am going to try the hair-dryer and hope for the best. Thanks for your replys!

Drill a hole in the back of the bumper, right behind the dent. Then stick something through it to pop up the dent while heating it. Just make sure you don't push too hard and shove it through the warmed plastic. You won't notice the drilled hole since you never see the back of the bumper, or you can just get a plug from the auto parts store if you're worried about it.

I just did this about 2 weeks ago. I really crushed one front corners on a tree. I used a heat gun and a long screw driver that I inserted in a hole on the bottom of the bumper that was already there. I did not have to drill any holes, but pushing was a bit awkward. Drilling a hole in the rear of the bumper would probably be easier.

Mine did not "pop" out as others have said. I really had to heat it up and keep pushing on it to get it back out. It's 98% perfect. It's a little wavy and I melted a small spot that took away some of the plastic texture. Not really noticeable unless you really get up close. Be careful with the heat gun if you want it perfect.

Mine will do until I spring for steel bumpers. Good luck!

I think that you just need to embellish your story a bit...

..you were on a nasty trail, passing a cliff face when a rock slide occurred, your 4x4 driving skills are what prevented your Jeep from being seriously damaged..

Then, you don't have to fix it, it becomes a battle scar!
