Direct Wire Rear Defroster?
I just added the hard top to my 07 that isn't wired for it. I don't care about the wiper that I will never use or the washer fluid. The wiring harness and programming is over kill for me. Anyone know the voltage that goes to the defroster? Is it a simple 12v run? Anyone done it? Easy enough to tap into the wiring on the top. Could easily run a switch to it. (Have a couple extra still). Appreciate any thoughts!

wiper
depending on where you live, the wiper may have to function to pass a vehicle inspection.

Does anyone have the wiring schematic for the plug that connects to the hard top? I can work from there and test it out. Thanks!

Still no ideas or information? Anyone? Anyone?

One thing to be weary of is that the defrost button is not a simple on off circuit.
It either has a timer, or some kind of sensor to turn itself off and not overheat/ cause damage to the window. A simple on off switch might work, but if you forget to turn it off...... that could be a problem. |
You should be able to locate a universal type switch or controller that has a timer built in. If memory serves me the "standard" is 10 minutes and operate on 12 volts.
You will want to find the amp load and make sure to choose wire of proper gauge. |
Probably find a generic switch. Like that idea. Just need to figure out which ones the wires connect to.
