Default Does traction control=brake lock diff

Window sticker lists traction control, is this brake lock diff? Has anyone"heard "their brakelock diff working. I was climbing a very steep smooth dirt hill and heard scrape/grind sound. Sounded like metal/cast iron scrape. I figured I was scraping the diffs or something, not the case. backed down hill and saw no indication of scrape. Did see that left front and right rear tires had slipped/spun. Tried different lineup hill no sound or slip. Was able to duplicate sound and slip 2 more times. 08 X in 4low. Sorry for the long post. i have never heard that sound before and i wheel around my property just about everyday and its pretty muddy so theres alot of slippage -- the brake/traction control thing happens when i have the EPS on but it just bogs me down in the mud so i run with it off, but even when its working there is no noise involved -- might want to have that one checked out or check your rotors for rocks

Default Traction control

I have heard this sound a couple times while on dirt roads. I assumed it was the traction control because it occured while losing traction. Never had any other problems.

Never had a noise that I recall but I have had the BLD activate quite a bit. I don't remember any sounds but you can sometimes feel it.

Default brake loc

Thanks for the replies, Sevin- was your Rubicon unlocked when you heard the noise? I figured since the Rubi has lockers that the brake loc thing didn't apply. But on second thought it is probably active until you swith on your lockers? Thanks

You mentioned that you were in 4-Low. Seems to me traction control is disabled in 4-Low.

(I'd check my manual, but it's in the garage, and I'm too lazy to go get it!)

Every time I heard the noise the Rubicon was unlocked and in 2 wheel drive. It sounds like the traction control. Wouldn't worry too much.

The electronic limited slip portion of the traction control system TCS, portion of the ESP is never disabled. And yes, it is in the manual.. Page 101 I think.

I wouldn't call it brake lock diff. Makes it sound like there is something different about the differential. I've heard it reffered to as that. I've heard mine before. I assume I'm hearing the rotor ringing. For me it was a light ping or ring at a quick pulse. Maybe 4 to 8 times. Depending on how much slipping was occuring.
