Driving with hardtop window open?

Is it bad to drive with the rear window of the hardtop open?

Nope. I have a friend who does this frequently with his dog in the back. I don't see it hurting anything.

Not at all you will be fine driving with the rear window open... actually makes for a nice breeze running through the Jeep.

I recall the owners manual saying not to do that because of fumes coming in when driving at certain speeds. I think it said to have other windows open if the back is open.

I do it for my dog sometimes but I go real slow. I tried doing it on the highway once when transporting a sup board and a couple times I hit the brakes I could hear the window jerking but everything was fine

When I do it, I notice the struts get tight and makes the window harder to close. Not sure if there's any negative long term effects on them.

I remember someone posting that their rear window shattered while open.

I suppose it depends on road conditions, driving speed, the wind, etc.

You're adding unusual torque and vibration to the glass at the hinges.

That's weird? There's a tailgate vent in the rear that allows for pressure changes and air flow.
