The ECO system is more than a pretty color on the tach and a light. The computer takes into account the rpm range as well as the throttle position. If you give it too much throttle than regardless what rpm you are at it is not driving economically per the computer. As you increase in rpm you can give more throttle and still be driving economically, but you have to learn how much at what rpm. It takes time to learn and you have to take into account inclines and declines. I have tested several different driving styles to see if there is a difference in mileage and it is a significant difference. Driving like a granny will give you the most mileage, but it's no fun. Driving at 50%ish throttle all the time I saw a decrease in 78 miles per tank of fuel. Obviously it will be different between 2 and 4 doors and your setup. So OP if you want to know what the ECO system is for than drive your normal driving style and document mpg and mileage per tank. Then drive like a granny using the ECO system as your guide and document mpg and mileage. Then you will have your answer.
