Default Engine Noise

Hi all,

I have '14 JKU bought new a couple weeks ago. I have about 800 mikes on it and I notice that at times the engine is rather loud almost diesel like. Then other times it's quiet. Is this normal?

Thanks!

Need more info. Does it vary with throttle input? Cold versus warm? Idling, or under load, and if so, at what RPM?

I think it varies but I would say mostly at idle. Under load (2500rpm or so) is loud at times but I guess I can assume that is normal. I just didn't expect it to "rumble" just idling.

Ok paid more attention today on my commute and what I noticed is it is loud both idling and when driving around ~1k RPM give it take. As for when idling it seems loudest when in gear like sitting at a light. It seems constant doesn't fluctuate but goes away when I start moving or when I go above 1-1.5k RPM if I was moving when it started. I know sound is so subjective so hard to describe in a way that makes sense. Thanks

Just thought, maybe it's not the engine. Maybe transmission or torque converter? No idea.

I wouldn't worry about any noises. I have a 13 Rubi, and when I got mine new it also made some noises that I though worried me. Just drive it and enjoy it, if anything happens you have a warranty! Trying to go to dealership over noises is just a huge pain in the a*# and doesn't get anywhere. Im pretty sure they all make some noises front time to time and it will be fine.
