Default error codes P0457, P0740 and gas cap warning on

Hi all,

For the past few weeks my gas cap warning has been coming on so I replaced the gas cap four days ago. Two days ago the warning came back on along with the two codes mentioned above. I understand that the P0457 (Evap leak) code is probably related to that same problem but is there any relationship to the P0740 code?

I just replaced the gas cap and that didn't solve the gas/evap problem. I also saw that some people have had issues with a hose running near their battery getting abraded/corroded but my hoses seem fine. I put electric tape around them just to see and it made no difference. What else could be the problem?

As to the 0740 code, I'm going to drain/replace the transmission fluid as it looks old.

Thanks for any help

Check this out to see if it’s what’s causing your CEL. That was the issue on my Jeep. No need to drop the tank. I spent .20 on a hollow plastic dowel, and $1 on an 11/64’s drill bit. I already had plastic cement for the job. It took me less than an hour to fix.

I got the gas cap warning on my 2012 a few years ago. Turned out to be a small leak where a hose connected to the evap canister on driver side under the hood. I just tweaked the hose. The error code went away and never came back. That was over 3 years ago.
