I towed my 4x8 open utility trailer with a 500lb Harley sportster from Florida to California a year and a half ago. Stock '13 jk with 3.73's. No problems, you'll be fine.

I have been towing a folding aluminum 5x10 and even a 6x10 full steal until trailer without issue. 2door auto (3:21). I usually only have a couple of dirt bikes loaded. I would recommend that you get a hitch with the proper drop. After my 3" lift I needed a 12" drop hitch and actually had to lift my folding trailer.

I have basically the same set up. 2010 2 door, 3.73 gears, and the exact same trailer.
No problems towing it. I dont put a huge amount of weight on it, but even using it to move from house to house( laoded with furniture), it was fine.
It actually rides smoother with some weight ( the trailer with no weight bounces around a bit ).
My only problem is that i cannot see the darn thing. When i am going striaght, the tire obscures the trailer completely.
I have since installed a rearview camera so i can keep an eye on the load.
90% of the time i am towing my kayak on their and i have had no problems.

I have the same trailer, and always used it behind my Cherokee. Yesterday was the first time I used it behind my 2012 6 speed 2dr JK with leveling lift, and 19/61 springs with 35" tires. I didn't know it was back there at all. Matter of fact the only issue I had was that I couldn't see it at all in any of my mirrors. I installed marker rods on the rear corners, so I can tell where it is when I back up. The JK is wider than the Cherokee.

I have a stock 2 dr 14 rubicon with 3.73 and tow a pop up camper. campers dry weight is 1700lb. I have towed a lot of miles with this and would say that my jk handles it pretty well. With some gear in it I'm probably at about 1900lb. I would not want to tow over the limit and would not tow what I am without the trailer brakes hooked up.

I also have a small utility trailer from tractor supply about 4 x 5 I believe and usually can't even tell it's there.

I have a stock 2014 2D and have been towing a 6x10 flat trailer betweeen my home in northern Illinois and my other home in SW Missouri, a distance of 600 miles, with absolutely no trouble. Mostly we are just transporting household items from up north to what will eventually the only home in MO. I have pulled my Polaris 800 touiring (two seater0 on the trailer back and forth between no Illinois and Wisconsin and now all the way down to SW Missouri without problem.

we did have a 2010 JKU with the mini-van engine and were really disappointed with the lack of power. We tried pulling an 18 foot travel trailer to Florida with it ( because the dealer promised us that we had plenty of power) and came back home with it and traded it in for a 2010 F150. That was four years ago. We bought a 2000 TJ to take care of the jeep crazies until the 3.6 engine came out and then we traded the F150 in on our present 2D.

I have decided to go ahead and buy a military M1101 trailer which has an empty weight of 1490 pounds and has a RVMR of 3400 pounds.

The specs on the trailer are here:

I am bidding on one for the auction on the 18th from govplanet. I have done all of the research on buying one and setting one up for civilian use and i will post a separate thread on that after the 18th

Thumbs up 4-door

Not a 2-door, but also no problems pulling my trailer converted to a camper! I put 35" tires on the trailer to match the JEEP :-) All that extra weight with the 3.8L everybody hates (except me) Love it :-)
Also, I do have a tongue scale (better than guessing) which reads 220 - 230 lbs, depending on load.

I putch hitch on last week and towed my first load of mulch today. probably 1500 lbs.

No problems whatsoever. Works great for light towing that i'll need to do.

thanks for the input.

I tow a 21 foot boat, no issues... It is a manual transmission though.
