Default Which Extended Service Plan?

The dealership is offering an extended plan for a considerable amount less than Chrysler. I think it's through MasterTech (American Financial Corp). The only red flag I see is that it doesn't cover the exhaust system, probly like a crack in the manifold, which I've seen mentioned on the forum. Any suggestions?

I had an ESP from a 3rd party and they went belly up. The $1200.00 service plan was $$$ down the drain. If you get one, go with the factory option.

Working at a dealer I have seen alot of people get ripped off on aftermarket service contracts, if I had the option and wanted an extended warranty I would definitely go with a Mopar contract. You might pay more in the beginning, but trust me I have seen the Max Care contract pay for itself in two or three visits on many occasions.

Not sure of the name of the plan I went with, but it was through the dealership.

I went with the mopar extended 2 yrs plan (total of 5 yr 100,000kms coverage bumper to bumper) and I am on the fence whether it was worth it....I really modded the hell out of mine, and thus took away what can be covered....The only thing it did cover after the OEM coverage was my cracked manifold....so I guess I kind of broke even.....I'm going to hit 100,000kms in the next couple months or so....right now the only covered is the engine, tranny, and maybe some electrical....

IMO If you plan to mod your rig allot, I would just say save the money for mods, but if you are not really going to, go for the extra warranty...

I would suggest go with the Mopar or don't get one at all. Have seen examples of what third party will try to pass off as repairing broken things and believe me you don't want it fixed like that. Spend the cash for the factory extended warranty or don't get one at all.

Extended warranties are a ripoff and just line the dealerships pocket with cash. If you plan on modding it don't even bother with the ext warranty. Save your hard earned $$ for other mods.

That's what I've always heard and believe. I just paid cash for my '11 JK and the finance guy barely tried to sell me an extended warranty. Just showed me the prices, I said no thanks, and that was that. They count on being able to talk people into rolling it into the financing, which is much easier to sell as "just a little more per month for your peace of mind!" Bah. Set aside that little more per month on your own and have the best of both worlds.

I purchased an extended service contract on a Chevy through API in 2004. The company went bankrupt. I went to the dealership, they said too bad, so sad. Nothing they could do. I pushed the issue and didn't accept the SOL statement. I thought that the more customers that they turned away, the more they receive in bankruptcy court to cover claims submitted by the dealership.

Well, I did recieve a refund. The refund check came from the dealership, and not API.

Personally, I'm not planning to buy another extended service contract. I've learned a lot with the companies that manage them.

If I start to have serious issues, I'll trade-in, and cut my losses. The ESC sticker price will become my future down payment along with my '07.

EXT. warranties are a rip off. I just purchased my 2011 last month. THey really tried to get me to purchase an ext warranty-/ maint. plan / paint protection / ugh...

no / no / no !

factory warranty is just fine!. notice- who pushes the warranty- your salesperson/ or the finance person!!!! / usually is the finance person - their bonus is based on how many extras they sell..
