Fellow Jeepsters, Help! Advice Needed!
Long story short....
I went mudding earlier this afternoon and on my way home the Check Oil light comes on, so of course i'm thinkin "wtf" to myself and pull off the next exit and into an Autozone but by the time i get parked in a stall i can hear squealing and metal rubbing together from the engine, i know....not good.
So i get to looking around under the hood and my Oil cap is gone, go inside purchase a new cap, and 6 quarts of oil and add it in until it was in the Safe zone on the dipstick. I go get something to eat and let the engine cool off until i get back and can touch it with my barehand no problem....and now....it will NOT turn over at all, just get a single click is all.......what looks to be the problem?
Any help appreciated, i'm very sad and depressed at the moment as much as i love my Jeep......

do you do your own oil changes or do you have a shop or the dealer do it? it sounds like its hydrolocked to me. if the dealer does it, then you are probably covered as far as repair goes. like the previous post says, there has been a few stories of the dealer forgetting the oil cap. good luck!

thanks for the replies, i always change the oil myself, and it took 5.5 quarts to hit the "safe" mark and yes there was oil all over the engine
why only just a click? what could be stopping it from turning over?
also, is any of this covered under warranty? i only have 7,000 miles on it....

I don't think it is hydro locked. That occurs by sucking water into the intake. If it was operated with out oil for long enough the engine probably got too hot and seized. Hopefully it is something much simpler and cheaper to fix. Good luck.
