I rarely need advice, but NOW I do! I just purchased a 2013 Rubicon. The vehicle has the new 17" x 7.5" rim. I like the rims (I know, many of you do not...), so I'd love to find 35" tires to fit. I'm lifting the vehicle with 2.5 with a custom kit from ARB/Old Man Emu, so 35's will fit. I'm getting all sorts of mixed messages/answers from a variety of sources about the RIGHT 35" tire to put on these rims. I realize I'll probably need some 1.5" Spidertrax Wheel Spacers (front & rear) to keep the tire rub to a minimum. Now I know I can find 35" tires... Might the tire in photo be a Mickey Thompson LT315/70R17???? A Mickey Thompson tech says NO, that this tire needs a minimum of an 8.5" rim width; the stock Rubicon rims are 7.5" (as I've been told). What tire do I need?? What tire in the photo is on my rims??

Just find a 35 you like and buy a set. They'll fit on the rims no problem. Average is an 8" rim but the 7.5" rims are fine. You're not the first to run 35s on stock rims lol a ton of people run them on stock rims as long as you run the 1.5" spacers then you're good to go.

Regarding my question... Several tire stores won't mount or sell me "ANY" 35" tire. They say the tire will "bulge" too much on the narrow 7.5" wide rims. So, my question still stands. "What 35" tires WILL absolutely fit my stock Rubicon 2013 17" rims?" HELP. I really want first hand knowledge of a good Overlanding tire.

Maybe you should try other stores. Not trying to be a dick but its an option. Plenty if people have put 35s on stock wheels. Discount tire told me the same thing but its a liability issue. The tire manufacturer recommends a certain size wheel for the tire to be mounted to and the dealer doesn't want to do anything different in case there is an issue.

I'm running 315/70 17 Goodyear Duratrac's on my 17x7.5 stock JK wheels.

If you look in the Show and Tell section of the forum, you will find many guys that have put 35" and 37" tires on stock wheels.

Any tire shop that says they will not mount them, does not want your business.

They will fit, i'm running a 37x13.5 toyo Mt on a stock rim with no issues.. I personally like the look of the stock Wheels. I Aslo ran a 35x12.5 bfg ! Hope that helps

Reviving this thread in hopes that others may have pics of large tires (specifically 33" or 34") on 2014 Rubicon wheels. I am going to keep my stockers, add 1.5" wheel spacers and probably go to a 285/70/17 Duratrac or larger. If you happen to have a 1.5" - 2" lift that would be great also.

Please post em if you've got em!

Here's my rig right now and my tires look too small even without my lift kit installed yet :(

Here is a link to one of the "35" tires on stock wheels" threads that have been started in the past https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-s...em-here-76203/ . Nearly a 1000 different rigs/setups to look at there.

Most big name tire company's wont mount them simply because of the reliability issue. It does not fit in the manufacturers specs, so they cant do it. I just bought my 35" BFG KM2's from Discount Tire knowing they wouldn't mount them, picked them up when they came in and drove down the road to a "ma and pop" tire store and had them mounted up. Easy peasy.

You will see the majority of the pics having the old moab style rubicon wheels, but they are virtually the same size as the ones you have.

My feelings are the tire width fits the rim just fine. There a little bulged, but not to the point that they will cause odd tire wear like the big name tire company's will tell you (their just trying to cover their ass). Honestly though, I feel a better fitting tire for the stock wheels would be a 285/75/17. They are all of 34" tall, but much skinnier (more like 11.5"). I would almost guarantee that they are damn near as tall as my so called 35" KM2's, which measure out at 34.25" BEFORE the weight of the Jeep is on them.

Get the tires you want. You may just need to hunt for a tire shop to get them mounted, thats all
