Default fog light problem

I removed the factory bumper and fog lights. When hooked up aftermarket lghts to OEM harness, aftermarkets would not work. Either flashed or only one would come on. Very strange, because at first they would work fine with the motor running. I'm not that electrical minded but did check all the usual possibilities. So why would the stock pig tail and lights work fine and the aftermarkets hooked to the same harness wires not?? a relay?? an amperage diiference? Anyone have ideas. thanks mike

Also, with the test light i get a good bright light on left light and dim light off the hot on the right side???? I did look in the fuse panel for "fog lights" or anything they might be connected in with..couldn't find anything labeled. if any on knows which fuse i'd appreciate it. EVERYTHING else works. And i did check to make sure high beams were off.

Ran into the same problem... the stock fogs are only like 42watts. if your aftermarkets are more than that they will trip the breaker untill the load is right. Use the stock wiring to trigger a relay wired right from the battery. I'm running fogs with 65w Narva bulbs now with no problems and 85/80w Osrams in Cibie E-code lamps for the mains all through relays and 14g wires.

No fuse, runs off a self resetting breaker
