This might be a answer that I should know but thought I would ask anyway. Is it safe to run with only one side of the freedom top off?

I've run with panels removed, i've also removed the hard top and put only the front panels back on to avoid sunburn... I haven't done one side only...

I looked at this as well and think you should be fine pending you use the sound bar bolt to keep that one corner fastened.

Perhaps someone who had done this can weigh in. I have not actually tried it yet.

Not to hijack the thread, but is it safe to run without the bolts in place in the front two panels? Like all three pieces of the top are together, rear portion bolted down, just not the two bolts that go through the sound bar?

I always take my panels on and off and I'm just too lazy to keep on replacing those bolts... I just don't want to be driving down the road and have a big gust of wind come through the window and have the two front panels go flying out or have rain water be seeping into the sound bar without me knowing...

I started running without the screws this summer, as I would take the tops off frequently, just forgot to put them in once, and never had an issue.
Mine had an occasionally leak up by the rear view mirror, they absence of the screws did not increase the volume or frequency of that occasional leak.

And as a bonus, I found out that I must have been over tightening the screws, as I had a terrible creaking, popping issue when the screws were in, no screws, completely silent.

I can see the bolts helping in an accident where impact could disengage the latches or you will drive over very irregular terrain and make everything vibrate. Otherwise, like the others, I also do not use them unless I'll do some highway drive.
