Default Fuel over flow

In the past 2 two months I have had this problem. Every time I fill my tank up the pump nozzle does not shut of automatically and I get what seems like a half a gallon of fuel on the ground. I don't know if the pump is pumping to fast? My wife has a '02 TJ we both go to the same gas station 90% of the time. She never has a problem. It also happens at other gas stations. I assume it's something to do with my jeep an not the gas station. My jk is an '07. I don't have a shit clue what it could be. Maybe the vent tube. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

its your JK. report it here..

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

A LOT of JK's including mine are doing the same thing. it is very dangerous. some JK's just need a new ESIM valve (~$12) and some need a new tank to fix it...

If you report it, they can cuild a case to issue a recall. Its a Serious and dangerous problem

Mine is not that bad, the nozzle stops just before overflow. But you must never try to top my tank off (like I do with other vehicles). Fuel stops pumping about 2 1/2 inches from the opening.

I don't top of my jeep because I got tired of it overflowing. After the first three tanks I did not do it anymore. Now I just wait until it clicks off. And it's been fine up until about 2 months ago. Now it clicks off when it's coming down the side of the jeep. still don't know why

My dealer replaced the whole fuel tank, so it's not just a glitch in the ESIM. Over-engineering is the problem when it's not just a bladder tank anymore

Was this covered under warranty?

Yeah, buddy! I had to take it in twice for the problem, but they were cool about it. (if it wasn't warranty, I wouldn't have fixed it!)

I replaced my ESIM and problem solved..
I also did the relocate on the Canister after the fact and still no problems.
This is on an 07 Sahara 2dr.

You might try the $12.00 fix first..

Finally received my letter from Chrysler stating they know there's a problem with this and if your vin#. matches their list of problem vehicles. You to the owner will have the privilege of having the problem fixed. rec'd the letter on 2/25/11. It will be nice to finally fill the tank without worries.
