In case you haven't seen it yet. Diesel denied again, but "surprise" for the 2014 wrangler hinted at. Thoughts? Its suggested it could be something along the lines of a factory brute.
Me likey.

Diesel engines mandated by the epa are not diesel engines. They may burn diesel as fuel but they are doing so in such a lean manner that they might as well be burning gasoline. With the price of diesel and all the temp sensors and the def fluid that has to be added to the exhaust system and its sensors I would not buy one if it were priced lower than the gasoline version. There is just too much chance that something gets snagged on something out there where we go and then you are getting towed because the epa mandated clean exhaust monitors has forced the pcm to turn the jeep off.
The only way I will get a diesel is if I get that conversion kit done with the guy in FL. That one is a true diesel and would be way cool.
I work on trucks running the new epa designed engines and they are horrible. They are covered in so much junk; EGR valves, EGR coolers, Fuel coolers, Turbo coolers, Boost coolers, VGT coolers, and def tanks with heaters and level sensors with all the temp sensors for all this junk which can result in an engine shut off. So when it comes to a modern diesel engine, thanks but no thanks.

Oh come on, we love ad blue! Run out, just piss in the tank! Luckily the porsche cayenne diesels i see at work have a level sensor , but no specific gravity or other sensor, so if you did run out you could fill with water and drive with a CEL. (epa says engine must be disabled if vehicle runs out of ad blue, but having your emissions out of spec wont disable it rigjt away)
