Gap forming at top of soft door/top interface
So I searched this forum for any info related to this and found nothing, so here it goes...
While driving at speed, we all know the front soft half doors will want to 'bow out' due to aerodynamic effects, just like the top does. Problem is, on my 07 X Unlimited with half doors it becomes such a problem that it causes a gap to form between the window frame/seal and the top on the top side of the door! It becomes so large that I can fit my hand through it while driving 60+ mph. The sunlight, or rain, will start coming in at about 40 mph. The dealer has replaced the half doors once and refuses my requests to put on full doors to just be done with the problem. Actually, they refuse to do anything more at all! Jeep customer service has said to try another dealer, and that may be the next step. Anyone else having this issue?
I can tell that it is most likely occuring in where it seats to the hard half of the door (yes I pound it in every time and yes the top is secured correctly) and the 'pockets' in the plastic hard half are a bit loose. If the soft half was 'pre-loaded' when the door is shut, I don't think it would be an issue. But that would require some engineering to be done on the hard half pockets.
Just looking for insight and some help. Thanks in advance!

i would def take it to another dealer... some dealers are just plain old lazy ass... and they think that there customers are pests... i would try and find another dealer tell them you are not happy and that this is a problem that they have to rectify and your not going to leave until the problem is resolved.. then all you have to do is threaten to call Chrysler and complain about them... that will usually get something moving. has always worked for me in the pas. .. good luck and keep us posted...
Mine was doing this, the Soft Top guy at the dealership said the top was instaled wrong. He was not there when I picked it up and nobody could tell me if I was doing something wrong, or if it was something from the factory. Anyway, it has quit doing it. Except for last week 75mph and about a 50mph crosswind caused it to happen again. the next day, all was well again.
Wish I could tell you what they did to it. I would try another dealer
