gas cap light...
So the gas cap warning came up and I checked the cap and whomever filled it last didn't put the cap on correctly. It was cross threaded (threads are ok) and left unlocked. I took it off screwed it back on as far is it would go (multiple clicks) then locked it. The warning came up again. I repeated the same procedure but it still comes on. Do I have to reset it somehow?
If it doesn't turn off after you refill it and drive it for a bit longer then there is another leak somewhere else. Just make sure its tight, fill up if needed, and drive a bit more and it should turn off by itself.
mine did the same and the dealer wanted $300 to fix. mine would come back on. I would tighten it and the light would eventually turn off.. then come back on. dealer said they tested the fuel system and there was a leak. I bought a new gas cap a locking gas cap even! for 15 bucks and problem went away... got to love the dealer. I asked them to tell me exactly where the leak was.. they just randomly pointed to something and said there... lol... aholes!
