im getting a gas cap msg and chime when i start her up.

cap is not loose and i didn't even know my 07 had this until today. first time i have seen it in the 3 years Ive owned it.

So any ideas as to why its going off if my cap is on?

 

Did you smash your evap can? Maybe the can is worn out and needs to be replaced?

i checked it and it looks fine. i really don't want to take it down to the crooks

 

cap may just be losing the seal. if it persists, buy a new cap and see if it helps.

 

I've been battling this since I bought my JK in February. Dealer can't figure out how to fix the issue. If your Gascap light goes on with three consecutive starts, you will get the Malfunction Indicator Light "MIL" as well. I wish they could just pull the whole system and toss it in the trash...

 

My '07 did this back in the summer.. Cap was not loose, and everything looked fine. had me baffled.. Bought a new cap off of eBay for $8 and have not had the light back on since.
