Default Getting Access to Drivers door lock tumbler?

Hey everyone, first time posting, hoping to get some help, have always found lots of great stuff on here and couldn't find what i was lookin for this time.

So a few nights ago someone decided to stick a screwdriver in my drivers side key tumbler and pry up, my alarm sounded and I ran outside, they took off before I even saw them.

I already have in my hands a new keyed tumbler but have had no luck trying to get access to replace it. I have gotten as far as getting all the clips off, removing all the bolts and the power window motor etc. I have no idea how to remove the black plastic cover that houses everything like the track and everything.

Does anyone have any idea how to remove everything so I can get my hands in there to work? Im not sure if the window needs to be removed off the track etc etc.

Hoping someone can help, I cant stand looking at my Jeep with busted stuff on it!

Thanks guys.

Barret.

Hi Barret- I fix cars for a living, I'll be darned if I could figure out how to get the inner door panel off. I believe the window has to be disconnected from the regulator. Maybe someone on here has access to a shop manual CD....

Take a look at post 11 and 13. This is how the service manual states to remove it.

well it sounds like fun to get to it

remove carrier plate:door carrier plate includes the hardware, window regulator, latch, remote handles and links to wiring harness. In addtion to providing manufacturing efficiences, the door module benefits the customer too. Having all the parts assembled into a module improves build accuracy and fit and finish between the components and trim as a result of greater communication between the release of engineers and suppliers. UM OK

removing the carrier plate
1. position the glass into the down position
2. remove the door trim panel
3. if equiped using a punch or similar tool, carefully remove the glass disconnect hole plugs
4. release the two glass retainer tabs(3) and seperate the glass clip(4) from regulator lift plate and position glass into the full upright position.
5. position the glass into the full upright position and using tape or equivalent secure the glass

6. disconnect the door wire harness at the A-pillar and separate the check strap from the hook
7. remove the screws and separate the wire harness push pins from the door structure.
8. remove the door handle screw(1)
9. remove the latch screws(4) (they are on side of the door)
10. remove the rubber hole plug in the door and remove the nut(2)
11. remove the upper latch bracket screw(3)
12 remove the carrier plate screws (5) and remove the carrier plate assembly(7) from the door. (THERE ARE 10 carrier plate screws)

its easy once you get that out just a clip as usual holding the lock cylinder on

edit: man I spend all that time typing that up and taking pics of book and smoke goes and finds real live pics
