Living in Scotland the Wrangler A/T 255/75 r 17 tyres are as supplied.Much quieter than the BFG M/T on the highway( I have a set of these also).Wrangler AT good off road ,Scotland is very muddy and plenty of snow. The lockers and 4WD have not got me stuck yet.I use the Rubicon on hunting trips so do use it off road.Incidentally the tyres are manufactured in Canada so should be obtainable in US.The only drawback is not enough clearance for snow chains
Thanks mate , I get what you are saying on the Wrangler A/Ts and how you guys use them up north. We only get the Wrangler ATR down this side ,is this the same kind of tyre or something different ?
My old man is from Scotland, he took me back (to his home) in the 1980s when I was very young. I have fond memories of the people and family I remember meeting there. My last name is Crawford and I am proud of my Scottish heritage.

Ok then, I'll have my new Rubi JK 2 door in the next few weeks. I will keep the stock boots on, (will let you know) and see how they do in Southern African conditions.

Those are also OEM in JK Rubicons in Mexico. They are a good compromise if you drive on road most of the time: Good for rain, not noisy and not as slippery and hard as BFG AT´s. They are good for light offroading in gravel. I have not tested them in mud yet, but my main use for them is in hunting trips...

Incidentally, thieves love them. They broke a week ago into my home and stole all 5 tires off my Rubicon. They were nice enough to leave the truck on little stones. I am buying again stock Silent Armors...

Defnitiely an improvement over the stock SR-A Goodyears, but for a Rubicon I would definitely prefer the MT's. I guess you can just see if they meet your needs and then change them out if they don't.

I replaced the worn out MTR's on my Liberty with Silent Armor 245/70R16's - nice looking tire. Compared to the stock SRA's, they are hands down better on wet roads and in the snow. Not as good in the mud as the MTR's. They get a bit noisey as they wear, but still are quiet compared to a mud tire.
