Default hardtop glass just shattered

Hey guys.

I just put my hardtop on, tightened bolts but not over tightened. Drove it on the highway for a few miles and then BOOM. it shattered in thousands of pieces.

The hardtop was in the garage before i put it on. It har a temp change of maybe 10 degrees celcuis which isnt much; from garage/outside temperature.

Muy tire pressure is 28psi

Did i do something wrong installing it?

Ill have it replaced but cant afford to keep popping these.

Reminds me of an incident I had back in 2010 at TDS. I was just wheelin along passing through a huge crowd near the notches when all of a sudden....POW!!! the driver-side rear door's quarter window just exploded!!!!!Boom, glass everywhere and even all over my passenger who was sitting in the rear seat. My first thought was, we were hit by some projectile that was either thrown or shot by some drunk A_ _ hole. After a few minutes and some calming down, I just figured I was a hit by a rogue rock thrown indecently by someone's back tire of one of the many vehicles playing in the area. The good news is (other than the fact that nobody was hurt in this ordeal) I was able to find a replacement quarter window for about 40 bucks through the wrecking yard. Saved a ton of money. I think new your looking at around 150.00 to 200.00 for that small specialty window.

ok well i can live with a Faulty Glass or Catching a stone as they are unlikely to happen again. Im just happy its not an install stress-related problem on the top.

how hard do you guys close your back gate(metal) to have it sit flush with the body? Mine needs some strength applied.

Does anyone know where to find the rear windshield for a hardtop at a relatively cheap price? The moulding on the bottom is cracked and they don't sell the moulding separately so now I need a whole new window.

My rear gate has never been an issue. But I do know that the doors are supposed to be tight.
