Default Help diagnose start problem

Just started happening a few days ago.

1.Put the key in the ignition.
2.turn the key
3.make a "chush" sound (like it is trying to start) and wont start, dosnt matter if I hold the key in this position it does nothing after the first noise.
4.turn the key back to the off position
5.turn the ignition again
6.starts just fine.

Now, yesterday when this started I had to try turning the key about half a dozen times before it finally started, I waited about a minute between each try because I was always told that the starter could overheat and become damaged.

This morning, it only did it once before I got it started. I rushed over to autozone to have them inspect the battery to rule out a bad battery. Autozone is where I bought the replacement battery and the battery has 12.6volts and is charged 100% according to the employee.

I replaced the oem battery a few months back because it had a crack near the negative terminal. Some acid had corroded the battery cable so I cleaned it off with a mixture of water and baking soda to neutralize the acid.

When I got home I disconnected the terminals, used a wire brush to clean off any other corrosion and I am hoping everything is fine now. When I first installed the battery I didnt shine-up the terminals so I am hoping it was just a bad connection.

Strange thing is that this issue only happens first thing in the morning after the jeep has sat all night.

So, what could it be?

My 09 wrangler has just under 29,000 miles. Has not been off-road since last year and the problem just started yesterday.

Edited to add: This is my daily driver, when I do go off road (very rarely) we do real basic off-road trails that any truck without 4 wheel drive could do.....nothing major

My husband has this problem he had posted on this very thing, but somehow the post is missing.
If it happens again try dropping it into neutral and then try n start it.. If it does, there is your problem. There are several people having problem with this.. per our dealer " tramission range sensor" is the culprit..

Btw he has an 08 2 door automatic..

I had this issue with an older jeep, and it turned out to be my fuel filter....but i wouldn't think a 09 would need a fuel filter this soon....
