Help! I hit the curb... hard...
So, was very icy this morning, and when I turn left, I fish-tale and hit the curb with the back right-side wheel quite hard...
The rim is severely damage (broke and peeled on the edge) but the tire is well (and still holding air!).
I have changed the damage wheel with the spare one for now, and took it for a test drive - all is well... EXCEPT I can hear a wired light "squeak" noise when I hit the brakes in that side, could it be that I have damage the brake or even the axle?
What to look for...? (I couldn't see any obvious damage when I change the wheel)
p.s
Is it even possible to fix the rim?
Thanks

My son did this on his 98TJ. Have somebody drive behind you and have them look at the wheel to see if it is wobbling. In my sons case the wheel was wobbling because he bent the plate that the lug studs are attached to. I found a used axle shaft on eBay and installed it in my driveway. This was a pretty easy job and fixed the problem.

Definitely get it checked at a shop. Without knowing how hard you hit the curb, it's difficult to tell what may or may not be tweaked, but I doubt you did any serious damage. An alignment might not be a bad idea. That wheel is done, though.

wheel needs to be replaced. I have ran into this before with several customers wranglers and the noise always led to the axle. Normally a slight bend on the end. It is not always picked up on a alignment and not always easily visible.

i work at discount/americas tire and ill tell you now that theres no way i or any of my coleagues would touch that rim even on a balance. it might seem fine and holding air but if you wheel that rim/tire theres a possibility that the rim will split even more and tear into the fender/wheel well. if its broke, dont fix it, UPGRADE it. gives you more of a reason to
