Default Help My Friends

I have a 07 stock X. When I go over a series of mild to mid size bumps on the road around 35 to 40 mph my front end goes into a "speed wobble" the front end goes aggressively side to side and gets worse with any speed. My steering wheel goes from 11 o’clock to 1 o’clock. The only thing that stops it is slowing down 15 mph and then its ok again. This has happened 4 times. Is it Alignment? Steering Stabilizer gone bad? Loose front end? Drives fine in Highway speeds and In town. My Steering wheel is sitting at 11:30 to drive straight so it must have hit a curb or something with the previous owner. Any Input would be helpful

Thank you in Advance

You have death wobble. Can be hard to diagnose.

I would start with the track bar. Pull it and make sure the bushings are ok. Also check that the holes in the mounts are not wallowed out. (mine were and I had to weld washers to them).

Finally, as Toad said make sure there are no cracks on the bracket. If that all checks out its time to move to other front end components but 9 out of 10 times its a track bar issue.

Sorry, Where under the car would I look for the Trackbar? Not sure what that is, and is this normal wear and tear or something the Warrany would cover

Thanks
John

I first would go with tire balance and work inwards.

Warranty should cover it although most dealers will tell you there is nothing wrong with the track bar and just replace the steering stabilizer.

This might work for awhile to mask the problem but the death wobble will come back and most likely blow the new steering stabilizer.

I can't find a pic (maybe someone can post it for me) but there is a pic on this forum showing all the suspension parts and what they are.

Also if you can, remove the track bar and make sure the holes in the mount where the bolts go through are not wallowed out. Mine were, both front and rear.
