HELP!! Overspray on soft top
Does anyone know of a way to get paint overspray off the soft top? I was at work the other day and the jag off painters on the job
decided to spray the stairwells in the parking garage. I'm not sure what kind of paint (latex or oil base) they used. I'm going to try to get the
painting contractor to buy me a new top and windows. If I can I want to try to clean it myself. I'm afarid of using anything to harsh on the
top to clean it off.
Thanks for any input.

I an going to make two suggestions that may very well get shot down fast but the can get paint off in other places so why not a soft top.
Mineral spirits or wd-40.
Am I crazy for even suggesting that?

Just get the contractor to buy you a new top. I would make sure you speak to him first before you try anything...he needs to be aware and if you Jack it up further you could make it easier for him to turn you down.
Not to sound like a downer, but if he were to cover anything, it would probably just be your insurance deductible to replace it.
He could just blame the garage/building owner saying they should have put signs or blocked off the parking. Then the building owner will just say "look at the Park at Own Risk" fine print.
Not to be pessimistic, just giving you info to prepare your ammo/comeback points.

I hear what you are saying but, this is the multi million dollar construction site and their is a giant brand new parking lot that can be used if they
would have closed the garage. The whole thing would have never happened.

The exact same thing just happened to me. The apartments behind my work just painted their parking garage and overspray got on about 25 cars that were parked about 50 feet from the garage. I got an estimate from an auto detailer about removing the overspray from the paint on the body and fenders, bumpers, etc...and it was $400. He said he wouldn't touch the soft top because anything he could use would affect the water resistance of the top and discolor/scratch the windows. To make matters worse, the apartments are now saying that it's not their fault so my company is now in discussion with our corporate lawyers trying to resolve the matter. I feel your pain! Just get a few estimates and make it clear that your pushing for a new soft top and that it doesn't matter how much the estimate is. Hopefully everything works out for the both of us
