Default Hill Decent?

My father in law just got his 2011 wrangler sport. There is a button next to ESP that shows a Jeep going downhill. Is this hill desend assist? If so, does it use the tranny to hold the Jeep back or what? His in an auto. The dash is SOOO nice on the 11s. I'm jealous.

If there is a post on this already I missed it. I tried to search for it.

I think it just manages control of the brakes, actually. Sounds like a good feature for those new guys on the trail who want to jam their foot on the brakes on a descent rather than let the engine / tranny crawl them down.

I've driven a Range Rover fitted with it & it definately uses the brakes.
