I had an accident back in November and the dealer did a horrible job fixing and painting the damage....I learned my lesson now
In some spots, you can see the body filler under the paint which wasn't sanded down properly prior to painting. Also when they masked off the drivers side of the Jeep for paint prep, they never bothered blending in the rough paint edge line where old meets new on the door sill. I'm going to be paying them a visit this week about that.

Needless to say you probably put down some hard earned money for your Jeep so don't be shy to bust their balls and have them fix it right.

However, that being said, its different with the scratches and stuff you do to yourself. In this case it was part of the purchase agreement.

What extended warranty did you purchase, was it the max care and how much was it, may I ask.
I live in Canada and purchased an extension to the factory warranty to cover the jeep bumper to bumper (0 deductible) for 5 Years or 100k.

My biggest concern is that when they removed the hinges, they tore the paint seem around each hinge. As you know, the hinges where painted while bolted to the door thus breaking the paint around the door eliminates the barrier to water/ salt/ etc. I am worried that the bare metal behind the hinges will now rust quickly and corrode.

For those of you who have had their hinges repainted, did the dealer paint the whole door? Or does it not matter that the paint has been cracked around every hinge?

Thanks!

Eric

Doesn't matter what everyone else had done. If your dealer did a sub-par job (which they did) then I would have it re-done.

redo now on their dime. Chrysler products hold up so well to rust, I'm sure it'll be your dime later.

Sorry that your question doesn't seem to getting addressed as to whats going to happen now that the hinges were removed. I would hope that the hinges would have been re-primed but what the best treatment is for sealing the door surface I'm afraid I don't know. Wranglers have had this issue for years, my CJ hinges did this and really thought that by now there would have been a solution. It's great that you have the warranty but the bitch of it is that your leaving it at the dealer again and again.

Those hinges need to be blasted/sanded down to bare, re-primed, painted, and sealed up with a clear coat. Properly painted metal should never peel like that. It looks like they just layered a few small coats over already damaged paint

I would make them do it again. I had to have mine repainted a second time. I told them to keep it till its was right. It took them 2 full days to get it done the correct way.
