I assumed when I saw "bi-metal" we were taking dissimilar metals and there would be a chemical reaction. I didn't know that the hinges were aluminum. SOmeone in the engineering department needs two in the hat.

Also, was about to inquire on this topic myself. My hood hinge is pretty bad. Is the integrity of the hinge itself compromised or is it just the paint bubbling?
Wow. You can have that! I could be wrong but I don't think the integrity is compromised. I could be wrong though. Mine looked good aside from the grey white haze

Yep and apparently they painted them on the doors so it's metal on metal behind them.

Is there a plastic gasket or something to put under the hinges to prevent this in the future?

I have this problem with two of my hinges. I would think that putting some kind of plastic or rubber in between the two, that it would allow the door to slightly move resulting in sagging doors. What I want to know is if they remove the hinges from the door when they do this procedure?

Reason I ask is cause if they do remove them from the door and then reinstall the hardware I think the tork bolts would remove some paint on the hinge while tightening.

The hinges are removed because they blast them before painting them. I would also think you would almost certainly damage the paint on the hardware. I would think if there was something as simple as a primer between the two metals it would solve the issue. As long as there is no metal on metal contact there should be no issue with corrosion.

Default Hinges

My '08 had this problem on the right front top hinge.&nbsp; I showed it to the service writer when I was getting an oil change.&nbsp; He said hold on and he made a phone call.&nbsp; Came back and said to come back the following Monday and he'll have them in and will replace all 4 doors.&nbsp; Came back and they did it for free.&nbsp; Even gave me an Enterprise rental (2010 Ram) while it was being done.&nbsp; I was happy.<br><br>

Gonna keep an eye on my 2012 too.

Not bad at all. I'm having to hoof it and catch rides in my wife's KK. Not enjoying that. Plus my neoprene seat covers just came in so I'm wanting to get them in. I miss my jk :'(

Ok, just got my JK. Not only is Chrysler being cheap @$$'s by not replacing the hinges, they aren't even attempting to blend paint. Paint is matched by color code and sprayed ONLY to the hinge. My Jeep now has 10 hinges that are the same color code as my Jeep but not the same color as my Jeep. Oh, and only the hinge half that mounts to the door was painted, not where it mounts to the body. This shows the colors clearly don't match. I am told it is because it's new paint with more clearcoat and as time passes they will begin to match. Unacceptable. I immediatly called my case worker... Out for the weekend and no one can help me until Monday. I'm LIVID. I feel my Jeep looks worse than it did on Tuesday when I brought it in and that they devalued my vehicle.

And by "time passes" I don't mean days, weeks, or months.
