Sorry for starting/fueling the rants.

Seriously though, there is tons of info on the subject. Read the stickies, and if you still have specific questions, there are many of us willing to offer advice based on our personal experiences.

What do you plan to do with your jeep? Is it gonna be a rock crawler, mud bogger, or are you simply looking for aesthetics?

Remember, there is no perfect answer. It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

And, welcome to the forum.

The search function can be confusing at times. It does not always pull up typed subjects one is looking for. Anyway Welcome to the forum and ask away!

THANK YOU!!! I understand it can be frustrating to see the same question over and over again. But it can be confusing. I didn't think there was a cut and dry answer but - anyways while I have your ear- you rubicon guys.

Can I just unbolt and bolt on rubicon shocks and cool springs onto my X? I have a line on both and was just wondering.

No prob man. Was a ranger forum rat before this. Same deal lol. No worries.

I'm going to stay near to stock as I can. It's my daily driver. Lite off road. As long as I have your ear - can I bolt on rubi shocks and springs? I have a line on some. Just wanted to make sure before I go and make the purchase.

I've heard mixed responses to that question, but the consensus seems to be that it can be done without major issues. Rubi springs are slightly stiffer, so you might notice a little rougher ride. If you've got a deal tho, I'd say it's worth a shot.

This is my '12 Rubicon with 35" nitto trail grapplers. It rubbed with passengers (wife, 7yo daughter) on mild dips and bumps. It would rub with just me going in/out parking lots on the slightest of off cambers. No rubbing on full lock turn.

My friend has a Sahara that I'm driving this week and it rubs on full turn. He's running 275x65x18. No rubbing on bumps or off cambers until extreme articulation.

I hope this helps!

Yes. It's a deal. I'm gonna give it a whirl. From what I've been reading its basically just drop the shock on one side. Bolt up the new one. Done.

It's a fairly easy replacement. Be sure to unbolt the brake line brackets at the frame and e-brake bracket on the body before dropping the axle.

I highly recommend replacing with Rubi springs and shocks. Very affordable, easy to install and worth it for someone that wants a little additional height. I also added Rubi take offs as well. You need to look at your spring numbers before you do this. Check out the last four digits on tags on springs. I had 14xx front/55xx rear. Replaced with 18/59's with Rubi shocks. Stiffer ride but shocks helped soften as well. Gained around 1.5-1.75" in front and @ 1" in rear. Followed write up on 2" coil lift on Project-JK.

VERY EASY!

Also have Teraflex Leveling puck kit I will add later that will add 1-2" in front and 1" in rear. Lots of guys running this set up. Can be had from fellow forum member for around @ $100-200 for springs and shocks. I purchased Rubi takeoffs and springs from member with 2000 miles on them for @ $900 and shocks for @ $125. Here are some pics before, after and parked next to rig like mine before add ons.
